The Genesis Of Kia

DETROIT (CarPressions) -- While Hyundai decided to spin off its Genesis sedan into a new luxury car brand, it's sister company, Kia, has decided to go in a different direction. Kia Motors made its world debut of the Stinger at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS). The Kia Stinger is the production model of Kia's GT Concept that was revealed at the Frankfurt Auto Show in 2011. Kia says the Stinger was designed in Frankfurt and developed on the Nurburgring. Its European influences definitely show. The rear end of the Stinger subtly resembles the Audi A7 or A8. Although one of us here thought it reminded them of a 1998 Ford Taurus. Its interior also has some European influences as well. The Stinger is available with a 2.0 liter turbocharged four cylinder engine or a 3.3 liter twin turbo six cyinder engine mated to a eight speed automatic transmission. Kia says the Stinger will go on sale later this year and did not give a date. Kia also said they will announce prices closer to the on sale date.
